From hobby to heartfelt:

our rebrand story

Flying Pink Flamingos didn't start with a grand business plan. It started the way the best things often do — quietly, at a kitchen table, with a creative idea and a whole lot of heart.

What began as a hobby and side project — handcrafting personalized gifts for friends, family, and neighbors — slowly grew into something I never quite expected: a real little business with real customers who kept coming back. And I am so grateful for every single one of you.

Where we started

In the beginning, Flying Pink Flamingos was all about custom, personalized gifts — the kind that made people feel seen. A tumbler with someone's name on it. A thoughtful gift set for a friend's birthday. Something handmade that you just can't find on the shelves of a big box store.

That mission hasn't changed. We still believe that handmade and personalized will always mean more. But as the business grew, so did my vision for what it could become.

"I kept asking myself: what do today's kids actually need more of?"

Why we're evolving

This part of the story is personal — and I think that's exactly why it matters.

When my kids were little, in those early, formative years, we made a deliberate choice as a family: screen time was limited to a small window each day. No endless cartoons, no hours of tablet play. Instead, our home was full of hands-on activities, creative messes, and the kind of imaginative play that you just can't get from a screen.

Was it always easy? Absolutely not. But watching my kids thrive — curious, creative, and comfortable with boredom in the best possible way — reinforced something I already believed deep down: the most valuable play often happens when screens are out of reach.

Fast forward to today. My youngest is about to be a sophomore in high school. His world looks very different now — screens are part of how he does homework, stays connected with friends, and keeps up with school events. That's just the reality of growing up in 2026, and I've made peace with it.

But here's what still makes me smile: he still gravitates toward the screen-free things. He'll pick up one of my sensory items, fidget with it while he's thinking, or sit with an activity just because it feels good in his hands. And more than that — he's become one of my most honest product testers. If something makes it past his "this is actually cool." filter, there's a good chance it ends up in the shop.

That told me everything I needed to know. Screen-free doesn't mean anti-technology. It means giving kids — and honestly, all of us — something real to hold onto.

Between my own experience as a parent, a genuine passion for child development, and the feedback I've heard from so many of you over the years, the direction for this rebrand became crystal clear.

What's changing (and what isn't)

You'll start to see our shop evolve toward more screen-free activities, sensory toys, creative kits, and personalized children's gifts — like our popular sunglass gift sets, Hidden Treasures Jars, Calm & Go Tubes, and more to come.

What will never change? Every single product is still handmade, handcrafted, and made with care right here in Land O' Lakes, Florida. You're never getting something mass-produced off a conveyor belt. You're getting something made by a real person — me — who genuinely cares about what ends up in your child's hands.

This rebrand is a love letter to childhood. To messy play and slow afternoons. To kids who get to be kids — curious, creative, and fully present.

I can't wait to share what's coming next. Thank you, from the bottom of my flamingo-loving heart, for being part of this journey.
